Seascapes: 2009 – 2018
Each of Cass' artworks intend to contribute to a greater whole: works created in the final months of studying remain relevant today. The below works have been created for exhibitions around Europe and each describe the sea in some way: either through abstract mark-making or documentary. Cass' works often describe environmental extremes, though most often their subject is memory and past – or passing – time. From fully covered and heavily layered works, through minimal works with grain and tooth exposed, this concept is further enforced by the use of functional antique objects sourced at flea markets around Europe.
