Whilst working on the exhibition Pelàda (2016–2017), Cass created a series of abstracted seascapes inspired by the Venetian lagoon. Three of these were exhibited in 2017 and one was later re-worked and exhibited in 2019. The others – including this piece – have remained in the studio, considered as studies.
